Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona

A short event recommendation from our side.. might be an attracitve opportunity to meet interesting  stakeholders and learn about recent developments and  research findings.

The Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) takes place from 17 to 19 November 2015 in Barcelona. With more than 10.000 attendees from 92 countries it is one of the major global smart city events bringing together global, national, and regional urban representatives, academic institutions, research centers, incubators, entrepreneurs, investors and corporations thus creating a hotspot for the diverse topic of smart cities.

Thematically the SCEWC divides the urban agenda into 5 themes:

The theme of technology has a particular focus on technological innovation. Amongst others it includes the subjects of services integration, sensors, internet of things, apps, geo information and data analysis.

Sustainability pays special attention to the topics of energy and urban planning and features topics like urban growth, zero carbon & green buildings, water & waste management, urban green and urban agriculture.

Social innovation, livable cities, collaboration and social well-being will amongst many others be areas of discussion in the theme of society. The SCEWC highlights the aspects of public safety and equity in this context.

In the mobility section topics like sharing, integration, apps, technologies, public transport, traffic management mobility on demand and non-motorized mobility will be addressed.

Governance will cover subjects like open government, open data, new public-private and innovation networks while putting a focus on the concepts of circular economy and urban resilience. 

The SCEWC provides a space for the presentation of innovative technology, research findings, planning solutions, policy approaches and products from all different parts of the field of smart cities. Besides presentations, plenaries, workshops and dialogs the SCEWC also arranges a mobile startup event (4YFN), an app inventors forum, an open innovation market place, a brokerage event and grants the world smart city awards.
